what I’m feeling right now has absolutely nothing to do with the subject matter of this song, yet it’s the mood and atmosphere it creates that captures exactly what’s running through my head.

Remembering Steve Jobs
“Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me … Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful… that’s what matters to me.” My thoughts go out to the family of Steve Jobs. He saved a company simply through innovation and changed entire industries along the way. Steve Jobs was a true visionary of our time, a man who helped spark my interest and love for tech in...

it's hoodie
I discovered a lot of great music this summer, but it’s definitely Hoodie Allen that stands out the most. His two mixtapes, Leap Year and Pep Rally, are a solid blend of upbeat, electronic rap, with great sampling and production throughout. I love that both mixtapes are kept short and sweet (11 and 13 tracks respectively), avoiding the all too common mistake of throwing every single unused...

the facebook
I recently got into a big discussion about Facebook. How it started, what it means, how it’s changing people and the way we communicate. It’s become so ubiquitous that it’s just assumed that everybody’s on it, and things that are posted on Facebook are now supposed to be common knowledge. We’ve stopped asking for people’s numbers and instead ask for their last...

Favourite Albums of 2010
These are the albums I listened to the most in 2010. They are in no particular order, but you can probably guess which was my favourite. Go buy them, download them, whatever. I just hope you find something new.

The Second Bottle
A fundamental wine sin, a terrible miscalculation, is to make the second bottle the same as the first. You’ll be tempted if the first bottle has vanished, gone down effortlessly to the accompaniment of praise from all, even regrets that it is gone. What was so impressive about the first bottle—the remarkable selection, the snappy taste, the good value, the...

Captured by German artist Michael Wesely using pinhole photography, the above photo depicts 34 months of New York City life. He worked together with New York’s Museum of Modern Art to capture the destruction and reconstruction of their building. There is something intriguingly beautiful and romantic about three years of life being captured into one single image.

Sloth and Suburbia
I haven’t been writing much on the blog for the past few weeks. This is probably due to the fact that whenever I get a chance to go on the computer these days, by the time I respond to emails, then go through all the usual sites I visit just to keep up with the world, I’m just too lazy to do any writing. I’ve been around Eastern Canada for the past month, and the days have been...

Google Chrome Speed Tests After seeing this commercial, I immediately had to find out what agency was behind it. Turns out it was from Bartle Bogle Hegarty, or BBH, an advertising agency based in Britian. Every contraption was built by hand and filmed with a camera, with no special effects added. Even the music in the video was played live on set by a harpist. In terms of the quality of their...

Diesel’s latest advertising campaign tells us all to Be Stupid. Lately, I’ve noticed that I’m being told the contrary by virtually everyone. Parents, teachers, even friends. Now, more than ever, I am being told that slow and steady wins the race, and that chasing our dreams just isn’t practical. However, Diesel is assuring us that there is absolutely nothing dumb about...

Adidas’ latest advertisements are really, really starting to impress me. This time around, they’ve remade the iconic Star Wars cantina scene for their World Cup advertisement campaign. Though the source material is considered sacred and therefore untouchable by many, they’ve stayed true to it and have done an amazing job, especially at incorporating the old footage with the...

The Earth Turned to Bring Us Closer
The earth turned to bring us closer, it spun on itself and within us, and finally joined us together in this dream as written in the Symposium. Nights passed by, snowfalls and solstices; time passed in minutes and millennia. An ox cart that was on its way to Nineveh arrived in Nebraska. A rooster was singing some distance from the world, in one of the thousand pre–lives of our fathers. ...
